Underwater Ecoguides is a project of the Costa Brava diving center association that aims to ensure that underwater activities are carried out in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way.
Three years ago we took a first step with the training for the professionals of the diving centers, so that they were able to explain not only the specific activity (snorkeling, baptism, immersion) but also the habitats where it takes place, the relationship between the organisms that inhabit it and how we should behave so as not to impact them. We are now taking a second step by publishing didactic materials developed expressly for this purpose. It is the “Ecoguiding Tools” project, which is available to all associated centers.
It includes an explanatory video for habitats and depths, species identification cards, the “Life in the Sea” notebook and a pedagogical guide.
Currently the video is available in 4 languages and the rest of the materials in Catalan, although we hope to have the different versions available in a short time. The project is financed by the DGPAM and the FEMP, through the Grup d’Acció Local Pesquer Costa Brava.
We encourage you to use the material, and if you want to know more about the association or the Ecoguías project, do not hesitate to contact us.
